Newspaper Articles
This week in ELA, we are reading news paper articles and we are learn how to truly understand an article. We did 2 projects so far. We would cut out a local newspaper article and a provincial one. Anyways, enough about my projects, let me tell you how to read a newspaper article. First, you need to know what the 5 W's are. The first W is What, it is easy to know what is going on because to answer it, all you have to do is look at the headline. The second W is when, to know When, you must find every date in the article and see which is the most reasonable, but if it only says days, look at what day it was published and that will help you. The third W is Where, this one is easy because it always says where in the article. Why is the next W. To find out Why, the answer is normally in the second paragraph. And the last W is Who. Who is normally mentioned more than once so that is who.
